Buying a trading bot — what you should look out for beforehand

Before you buy a trading bot, it is worth taking a sober look at the pricing model, data storage and configurability. This page summarizes the eight points that most often cause trouble afterwards — and shows how FuturesBot it solves: as purchasable software with One-time payment, locally on your own computer, with full access to every parameter.

Before purchase: 8 points that matter

This checklist applies to every provider — not just to us.

Credit card
1. Subscription or one-time purchase?
A subscription keeps running even while the bot is paused. Project the costs over 24 to 36 months before you decide on a model.
Key
2. Where are your API keys stored?
Cloud bots need your exchange keys on their servers. Local software like FuturesBot keeps them on your computer. Do not enable withdrawal permissions under any circumstances.
🧪
3. Is there a real test mode?
A paper mode with real live prices shows you approximately how your settings behave before real money is involved — live results can deviate significantly. Without a test mode you buy blind.
⚙️
4. How much are you allowed to configure yourself?
Black-box bots give you an on/off switch. Check whether you can adjust strategies, leverage, filters and protection mechanisms individually — otherwise the bot will never fit your style.
Shield
5. What risk management is built in?
Stop-loss alone is not enough. Sensible are position size logic, daily loss limits, trailing levels and an emergency stop. Learn more.
📄
6. Who is behind the offer?
Who is the provider, where is it based, and how can you reach support?
No
7. Are returns promised?
Concrete profit promises are the clearest warning sign of all. No bot can guarantee results — not this one either.
🔄
8. How often is it developed further?
Markets change. A public Changelog shows you whether software is being maintained or has been at a standstill for months.

How much is a trading bot?

Four common pricing models — with what they mean in practice.

Profit sharingShare of the profit achievedSounds fair, but is hard to verify — and nobody shares losses with you.
Free open-source bots0 € licenseNo license costs, but effort of your own: installation, strategy development, maintenance, no support.
Purchased software (FuturesBot)One-time 1.996 € / 599 €Pay once, updates for at least 24 months from purchase. Runs locally — you need a PC or a small VPS that stays running.

How the purchase works

From the first test to the first live trade.

1

Try for free

Download the 14-day trial, start in paper mode. No payment method, no exchange sign-up, no API key required.

2

Choose an edition and buy

In the Shop Select the full version or the TradingView Edition, choose the operating system, pay. You receive a proper invoice; no VAT is shown, since the provider is a small business under § 19 Abs. 1 UStG.

3

Receive license by e-mail

Download and license key arrive automatically after payment is received. The key is bound to your computer at first start; at start and about every 12 hours the software checks the license online.

4

Set up and keep running in paper mode

Windows installation or Linux installation, then adjust the configuration. You switch to live only after thorough review in paper mode — paper results are not a forecast.

Test first, then buy

The 14-day trial offers the functions of the full version with a few differences (one bot instance, diagnostic report by email only, smaller daily quota of the AI help) — in paper mode by default with real live prices.

No credit card · No exchange sign-up · Paper mode by default

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a trading bot cost?
That depends on the business model. Cloud providers usually bill monthly, some also take a share of the profit. FuturesBot is purchased software: full version 1.996 € one-time, TradingView Edition 599 € one-time (one-off prices), updates for at least 24 months from purchase. On top come the usual trading fees of your exchange — you pay those with every bot.
Can I buy a trading bot without taking out a subscription?
Yes. FuturesBot is bought as a license, not as a subscription. There is no monthly fee, no profit sharing and no obligation to use a cloud account. Details on the “Trading Bot Without Subscription” page.
Do I need to be able to program?
No. You set all parameters — strategies, leverage, score thresholds, protection mode, symbols — in the user interface. The configuration files are also available in plain text if you want to go deeper.
How quickly can I get started after purchase?
The download link and the license key arrive automatically by email after payment is received. On Windows, you unzip the ZIP and open “FuturesBot starten.exe”; on Linux, you unpack the package and, after chmod +x bin/start, start it with ./bin/start. Then you start in paper mode first — you do not yet need an exchange account or API keys for that.
Can I test before buying?
Yes, 14 days free in paper mode — with the functions of the full version and a few deviations (one bot instance, diagnostic report by email only, smaller daily quota of AI help). No credit card, no exchange sign-up. That is exactly what the trial is for: first check how your configuration behaves, then decide.
Is there a right of withdrawal?
In principle, yes. For software downloads, the right of withdrawal expires under § 356 Abs. 6 BGB as soon as provision (download and license key) begins — provided that you expressly consented during the ordering process and confirmed that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal. Details can be found in the Information on the right of withdrawal (Widerrufsbelehrung) and in the Terms and Conditions.
⚠️ Risk notice: FuturesBot is a technical analysis and automation tool — not a financial product, not investment advice, not an investment recommendation, not asset management. You determine strategies, leverage and stake yourself. Trading crypto futures involves considerable risks and can lead to the complete loss of the capital employed; stop-loss and protection functions do not reliably limit losses (price gaps, slippage, liquidation). No profit guarantee; past or simulated results are no indication of future ones. First check every setting thoroughly in paper mode. Full risk notice →
