Test a trading bot for free — 14 days in paper mode

You don't buy a trading bot based on a feature list, but after you have seen it running. The FuturesBot trial runs 14 days with the features of the full version (few deviations, see below) in paper mode: real live prices, simulated balance. No credit card, no exchange account, no automatic renewal.

Windows and Linux · No API key required · The license simply expires after 14 days

What “free” in trading bots usually means

Four variants — and what they mean for evaluating the software.

“Free” often means …What this means in practice
Free plan with feature limitUsable, but the interesting features are in the paid plan. It is hardly suited to evaluating the actual software.
Free in exchange for trading volumeThe bot is free; the money is made through fees or referral links to the exchange. The provider then has an interest in many trades — you don't necessarily. Note: FuturesBot also provides a labeled referral link for Kraken, through which we receive a commission; using it is voluntary, and the bot works without it. The commission may depend on the trading volume of the accounts registered via the link.
Open sourceReally free, but with your own effort: installation, strategy development, maintenance, no support.
Time-limited testFeatures of the full version with few deviations, limited duration. This is how the software can be tried out in paper mode — FuturesBot uses this model.

The 14-day trial in detail

What is included and how paper mode works.

  • ✓ 14 days full term
  • ✓ Full version features — all 14 strategies, both protection modes, multi-symbol, Telegram; differences: one bot instance, diagnostic report by email only, smaller daily quota of the AI help
  • ✓ No payment data — no credit card, no account with a payment service
  • ✓ No exchange account and no API keys needed
  • ✓ No automatic renewal — the license expires; if the software is running shortly before expiry, it closes open positions with a market order
  • ✓ Windows and Linux
What paper mode does

The bot receives the real live prices of the exchange, but calculates with a simulated balance. Every order, every stop, every trailing level is simulated approximately — without any money being moved. Fees are applied as a flat amount, funding is not booked. Live results can differ significantly.

That is exactly why it is so useful for checking a configuration: you don't see a backtest curve from the past, but how your settings right now behave in the live market.

In 5 steps test meaningfully

The most common mistake is changing everything at once and then learning nothing.

1

Install the trial

Windows: unpack the ZIP, open “FuturesBot starten.exe”. Linux: unpack, chmod +x bin/start, then ./bin/start. Step by step: Windows · Linux · Getting started.

2

Start with the default values

Don't change everything at once. First let the bot run for a few hours with the default settings (starting point, not a recommendation) so that you have a point of reference.

3

Change one thing, then observe

Whether score threshold, leverage or individual strategies: change only one setting at a time if possible. Otherwise you won't know afterwards what had an effect.

4

Run through several market phases

One trending day says little about a sideways week. Take your time, otherwise you are only testing a coincidence.

5

Review the evaluation — and assess it honestly

Trades, balance history, blocked signals. Whether and when you go live is up to you — paper results are not a forecast, live results can deviate significantly.

What paper trading not can do

Paper mode calculates executions in simulation. Real slippage with thin order books, partial fills and behavior during extreme market moves can only be approximated. A paper result is therefore a behavior test of your configuration, not an earnings forecast. After switching to live operation, check the behavior again — this too is part of the risk management.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the trading bot really free to try?
Yes. The 14-day trial costs nothing, requires no credit card and does not renew automatically. After 14 days the license simply expires — you don't have to cancel anything.
Do I need an exchange account for the trial?
No. In paper mode, the bot trades with simulated capital against real live market data. Neither an account with Kraken, Bybit or Bitget nor API keys are required for this.
What can't the trial do?
It offers the functions of the full version with a few deviations: one bot instance, diagnostic report by email only, and a smaller daily quota of AI help. After the 14 days end, you need a license to continue working; if the software is running shortly before expiry, it closes open positions with a market order.
How informative is paper trading?
It shows approximately how your configuration behaves: which strategies trigger how often, how the protection mechanisms take effect, how many signals are filtered. However, it cannot reproduce everything — real slippage, partial fills and order book effects can only be approximated. Results in paper mode are therefore not a prediction for live operation.
How long should I test before going live?
Long enough for several market phases to occur — trend, sideways, a burst of volatility. A few hours are not enough for that. If you want to keep testing after the trial, you can do so in paper mode without time limit with a license.
Are there also permanently free trading bots?
Yes, in the open-source space. These frameworks have no license fee, but require programming skills and developing the strategies yourself. You can find an assessment in the Bot comparison.
⚠️ Risk notice: FuturesBot is a technical analysis and automation tool — not a financial product, not investment advice, not an investment recommendation, not asset management. You determine strategies, leverage and stake yourself. Trading crypto futures involves considerable risks and can lead to the complete loss of the capital employed; stop-loss and protection functions do not reliably limit losses (price gaps, slippage, liquidation). No profit guarantee; past or simulated results are no indication of future ones. First check every setting thoroughly in paper mode. Full risk notice →
